About
We are pleased to invite you to the workshop “HERITAGE AS A CONSTRUCTION OF IMAGINATION : The Role of French Literature and Cinema through the work of Alexandre Dumas” by Lucie Blondat, our intern!
We will explore Dumas’ emblematic novels, such as The Three Musketeers and The Count of Monte-Cristo, and will examine how his narratives elevate heritage to the status of a national emblem.
The workshop will also focus on three major film adaptations: La Reine Margot (1994) by Patrice Chéreau, The Count of Monte-Cristo (2024) by Matthieu Delaporte and Alexandre de la Patellière, and The Three Musketeers: D’Artagnan (2023) by Martin Bourboulon. Through selected excerpts, we will analyze how these films depict some aspects of French material heritage.
The event will conclude with a participatory discussion, inviting guests to share and exchange their perspectives on heritage as understood in their respective countries. This moment of dialogue will offer an opportunity to compare viewpoints and highlight both the differences and commonalities in heritage imaginaries around the world.
We look forward to welcoming you to this enriching exchange!
